Wrap-Up & Photo Recap of Our Dinner at the Tenderloin School
Over the last few weeks, the nature of our posts were geared towards our partnership with the Bay Area Women and Children’s Center. We were happy to share with you all the many diverse ways in which the organization and school has reshaped the Tenderloin community. At the conclusion of this posts, you can click on each of the related links.
But we talked a lot about the event leading up to it, so you’ll be happy to know that it went over quite well. There were 150 guests and many volunteers comprised of our staff and BAWCC supporters. For BAWCC, it was the first time in 30 years that they’d hosted an event like this. Given the success of the first year, we all left with the feeling that this is something that we will do again.
We were also really fortunate to have the sponsors we did. Blue Bottle Coffee and Magnolia were incredibly generous. It is our hope that we can continue to work with each of them next year, and bring even more partners into this amazing community.
Below, check out some of the scenes from Friday.

We rented an enormous grill for the occasion. These onions were being sweated for an eventual partnership with creamy farro.

Magnolia generously contributed their Kalifornia Kolsch for the garden reception.

As did Blue Bottle. They were very kind to contribute two baristas and their whole set-up:pour-overs, espressos-the whole gamut! After dinner, in true BBC fashion, a furious queue began to form at the sound of milk steaming. Pictured above is Midge Wilson, the Founder of BAWCC and the star of the night. We can not overemphasize the positive impact Midge has made on our city.

We were very pleased the dinner sold out in its inaugural year. Many of the chairs, like the one in this photograph is from the school library. They were hand painted by Kindergarten students from the class of 2001.
Thanks for hanging in there with us for the past few weeks as we took a modest departure from food content to share a cause and an organization that we are very excited about. Click below for previous posts on BAWCC.
