Oh, and Happy Cinco de Mayo!! To commemorate the occasion, we want to share a couple of interesting (and related) items from the week.
Foremost, the New York Times wrote an interesting (and slightly provocative) piece profiling Gustavo Arellano, food editor at the OC Weekly and author of a newly released book about the Mexican-American cuisine, entitled, Taco USA. Check out the article by clicking here.
Then, Lynne Rossetto Kasper of the Splendid Table, (a phenomenal weekly podcast on food), had a brief interview with Mexican chef Pati Jinich, host of PBS’s Pati’s Mexican Table. The interview highlights a few authentic Mexican dishes for the holiday, and confirms the suspicion that Cinco de Mayo is in fact more vigorously celebrated in the States than in Mexico. Check out the Cinco de Mayo interview here.
