Since we change our menu everyday, there is always a lot of discussion about what new fruits or vegetables have been added or subtracted. We’ve traditionally shared an internal document called “Farm Fresh”, which helps us track the changes. Now we’ll publish them in case you all would like to keep up to. Consider it a supplement to the menu. A favorite game is to follow along and see what ends up where. The map above should be a key. While the cities aren’t posted, the counties help sort things out.
As you all know, we are in the midst of seasonal transition, in the infancy of spring. We are left with the remnants of a dry winter and early spring rain. We’ll see how this plays out in our produce. One of the biggest hurdles in getting out the Farm Fresh update is that things are always changing. And even though we know that- there is still a strong urge to include each item on our menu from the respective week. I am realizing it isn’t worthwhile. As fruits and vegetables come and go, they help us understand the season. And since our seasons in San Francisco look so similar, we can use the reminder in our food. Things don’t leave. Things change.
